Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies Receives Historic State Investment to Support Capital Expansion

Louisville, KY (April 16, 2026) — Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies announced today that it has been included in Kentucky House Bill 900 which appropriates $9 million over the next two years to support capital expansion.

This marks the largest investment from the Commonwealth of Kentucky in Kids Center’s history and represents a transformational step forward in the organization’s mission to ensure every child has access to timely, life-changing, essential medical therapies (i.e. Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech, Feeding & Nutrition).

For more than 65 years, Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies has served children with physical, behavioral, and intellectual challenges, helping them build confidence, improve mobility and communication, and reach their full potential. Today, Kids Center serves more than 1,200 children annually from more than 30 counties in Kentucky and provides more than 23,000 visits each year. Yet demand continues to outpace capacity, with more than 700 children currently on the waitlist for care.

“This is more than an investment in a building or in physical space,” said Phil Marshall, President & CEO of Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies. “This historic commitment from the Commonwealth gives us the momentum to honor our promise to families across Kentucky: that their children will have timely access to the therapies that help them grow, learn, and flourish. Together, we are building a future where opportunity meets every child’s potential. What we do at Kids Center is so much more than therapy.”

Funding through House Bill 900 will support Kids Center’s capital expansion efforts, helping the organization create modern, purpose-built therapy spaces that increase capacity, improve efficiency, and better serve children and families across the region. Kids Center’s vision for the future includes expanded access to care, state-of-the-art therapy gyms and sensory spaces, and environments designed to support specialized therapies and maximize every child’s progress.

“As a therapist, nothing is more difficult than knowing a child needs help now but has to wait. This funding changes that. It means more room to work, more families served, and more moments where a child says their first word or takes their first independent step or meets an individual goal that improves their ability to participate in the world around them,” said Lisa Campbell, Senior Vice President, Program Services.

Kids Center is the region’s most comprehensive and fully coordinated pediatric therapy provider, providing a critical lifeline for families who often cannot find this level of care anywhere else. This state investment will help position the organization to meet growing demand and bring more children into care sooner.

Kids Center extends its gratitude to the state leaders, advocates, and community partners whose support made this investment possible, including House Majority Whip Jason Nemes and members of the Jefferson County legislative delegation.

At Kids Center, we see the ability in every child!
