Group therapy provides a unique opportunity for children to work on skills with peers in a safe & small group setting with more support than they would get in other settings such as the classroom.
Groups meet at our East Campus and are led by an occupational therapist, a speech therapist and two adult volunteers. Children are grouped based on age and cognitive skill level.
Groups contain about 6-7 kids and meet every other week during the school year on Wednesdays (August to May).
We have groups for 4–12 year olds and also a teen social club that meets weekly. Other specialized group offerings may be offered various times throughout the year or summer.
Most people, including children, are spending more time than ever sitting with a screen. This means less time socializing, moving and interacting with the world around them.
While there are many areas of development that can suffer as a result, social and emotional skills are a huge one.
Our groups provide a unique opportunity for children to work on skills with peers in a safe, small group setting with more support than they would get in other settings such as the classroom.
Children are able to explore socially and gain confidence to take their skills out into the community.
